While Caroline Wozniacki is no longer a part of his life, new BMW PGA champ Rory McIlroy said he was looking forward to seeing the one woman who will always be in his life, his mother Rosie.
“I’m going to go home and see my Mum as I haven’t seen my Mum in a few weeks, so I’m going to head back to Belfast tonight and see her,” he said after birding the closing two holes at Wentworth.
“Then I’m heading to the States tomorrow as I’m playing the Memorial later this week.
“I’m arranging for a few friends to come around to my parent’s house for a few drinks, but it’s back on a plane tomorrow and back at it and get ready for the next tournament.”

And while McIlroy’s victory at Tour HQ certainly delighted his parents it also delivered European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley a huge lift with victory cementing his place in September’s Ryder Cup side.
“I was speaking to Paul (McGinley) yesterday just before I went out to play, just talking about pairings and what he’s thinking,” said McIlroy.
“It sounded like the way he was talking, even without this win, sounded like I was going to be on the team (smiling).
“So yeah, I’m looking forward to it. We don’t get a chance to come back and play in the U.K. and Ireland very often. It’s going to be great. I think I’m pretty much cemented on the team now, and looking forward to being a part of Paul’s side.”
