Padraig Harrington’s quest to continue an unbroken run of 14 straight Masters appearances will now hinge on next week’s Shell Houston Open.
This is after Harrington slumped to near the tail of the field with rounds of 76 and 73 (TBC) in the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio.
The triple Major will now need to win in Houston to secure the last remaining invitation into the seasons first major commencing at Augusta National on April 10th.
Harrington’s second round in light winds and very warm conditions was a mix of three birdies and four bogeys.
And while Harrington hit 17 of 28 fairways over the two days the real problem lay in being only able to hit 19 of 36 greens in regulation.
Joining Harrington in missing the cut was fellow Open Champion Phil Mickelson, defending champion Martin Laird and Japan superstar Ryo Ishikawa.
