Graeme McDowell’s Nona Blue Tavern in suburban Orlando naturally turned a very decisive shade of emerald green for today’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
Staff and patrona got right into the spirit of St. Paddy’s at the Lake Nona tavern wearing various forms of caps, scarfs and attire to celebrate the annual March 17th patron Saint of Ireland day.
The Guinness was flowing and there was also plenty of Craic on hand.
There was one guy with a guitar having a great time and also three ladies from Dublin and Stamullen in Co. Meath who are holidaying in the States.
As well, there was a sprinkling of players, caddies, TV notables and others who are here in Orlando this week for the $US 6.2m Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Among them was big-hitting American Gary Woodland who was sitting with his manager Mark Steinberg who also looks after the business interests of 14-time Major winning Tiger Woods, who this week will be looking to win the Palmer hosted event for a ninth occasion and also for a third year in succession.
Also celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at McDowell’s Nona Blue Tavern was his long-time caddy Ken Comboy along with the caddies to American Brooke Kopeka and Retief Goosen while the Golf Channel’s very respected Tim Roseafort enjoyed being present.
However while the co-owners parents had visited the tavern earlier in the night the one person missing was their son – Graeme McDowell.
Fran Caffrey (www.golffile.ie) had arrived from Dublin into Orlando at 6.30pm local time and wasted little time catching some of the fun and flavour at the Nona Blue Tavern as you can see in his superb selection of snaps …. and if you wait 2 seconds you will see all of Fran’s great photographs.
