Double Major winning Rory McIlory and his former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki are planning a lavish November wedding in New York.
Sources say the couple have chosen to tie the knot in the city known affectionately as the Big Apple.
If correct, it could mean McIlroy missing one of the big end-of-year tournaments on the European Tour.

A photo of McIlroy and Wozniacki taken in Sydney in January 2013 and it was on Sydney Harbour on New Year’s Eve he popped the question to the Danish-born tennis ace.
The guest list is sure to read like a who’s who of golfing and sporting stars and among those high on the guest list is former US President Bill Clinton and his wife Hilary.
A source said: “They’ve chosen New York to have their wedding.
“Rory’s now based in America so they thought it made sense. “They’ll pull out all the stops to make sure their day is as special as it can be.
“Family and friends are very important to them both. With money no object they’re flying who they want to be there on their big day to New York.
“Bill Clinton has also been mentioned as being invited. Rory and him played golf in Ireland and struck up a friendship.”
Rory’s best man is expected to be lifelong pal and fellow golfer Harry Diamond, who is due to wed stunning Belfast model Katie Larmour.
McIlroy popped the question to Wozniacki during the New Year’s Eve fireworks display on Sydney Harbour in Australia.
Their Twitter followers learned of their engagement when Caroline tweeted: “Happy New Year everyone! Rory and I started 2014 with a bang! … I said YES!!!!”
The couple revealed they had set a date last month but wanted to keep it under wraps.
“We have set the date,” said Wozniacki.
When asked if it was this year, she smiled: “You never know. I am so excited – it’s such an exciting time.”
Speaking in January of his nerve-wracking proposal the golf superstar admitted his pulse was racing as he sank to one knee and popped the question.
“I was sweating a lot,” said McIlroy. “A lot.”
“I’d an idea she’d say ‘yes’, but you never really know until it actually happens. It was a great way to end 2013 and start 2014. We were out on a boat in Sydney Harbour for New Year’s Eve, just in front of the Opera House and the fireworks were going off.
“Yeah, I guess there was a little bit of romance involved and, yeah, she was surprised. I had an idea it was something she wanted and hoped she’d say ‘yes’ and she did,” he said.
Wozniacki predicted being engaged will bring “calmness” to their life. “We know what we want and it gives us even more time to focus on our careers,” she added.
Recalling the romantic proposal, she said it was “very traditional. He asked my parents. He went down on one knee”.
A chuffed McIlroy admitted: “I’d been thinking about it for a while and asked Caroline’s parents in the middle of December. She’s definitely the right girl for me.”
