World No. 1 Tiger Woods said he was ‘not bummed’ in missing out on shooting a magical 59.
Woods stormed to a seven shot lead on day two of the WGC – Bridgestone Invitationl courtesy of an equal career best nine under par 61.
It put the 14-time Major winner into a seven shot lead as he chases an eighth Bridgestone triumph.

Woods had raced to nine under par through 13 holes but then played the closing five in level par. It was the fourth time in his career Woods has shot 61.
But while everyone watched and hoped Woods would sign off with an 11-under par 59 the American was not that disappointed.
“It would have been nice to shoot a 59 but a 61 is not too bad. So I’m not bummed,” said Woods.
“But then I’m not disappointed because I certainly had a lot of control of the ball today from tee to green.
“Scores like I had don’t happen every day but when they do it’s fun when it all comes together and you can take advantage of it, and especially on a golf course like this as this is not an easy golf course.
“So I’m very happy to be able to post a score like that. I just kept thinking to myself, let’s just keep increasing this lead, and now I’m seven in front so that’s not too bad with two days to go.”
However Woods has shot a 59 before in his career when he played a ‘fives auto ones’ match in 1997 alongside Mark O’Meara ar the Iselworth Club in Florida.
It was just days before Woods would win his first Major Championship with a stunning 12-shot success at the Masters.
“Mark and I were playing fives auto ones, and he lost a boatload (laughing) playing for only that nominal domination,” said Woods.
“And then the next day an even better story is that we played nine holes, and I was 5-under through 9 holes, and then parred 10 and made a hole-in-one at 11.
“Mark just drove his cart home (laughter).
“So that’s actually a better story. He didn’t say a word to me. He didn’t talk to me for a day. Didn’t text me, nothing. I called him and nothing (laughing)”.
