England’s Paul Casey has singled out glamour Gadget Show girlfriend, Pollyanna Woodward for special praise after his stunning Irish Open success.
Casey, 35 ended a two year winless drought in dramatic manner by holing a monster 60-foot eagle putt at the 72nd hole to win a 12th European Tour victory after last capturing the 2011 season-opening Volvo Champions event in Bahrain.
The former triple Ryder Cup star has since endured a horrid two years including a bitter marriage bust-up and breaking his collarbone in late 2011 in a snow boarding accident.
However towards the end of last year Casey met fellow England born Woodward.
Woodward has been co-host since 2010 of the highly-successful BBC Channel 5 program – The Gadget Show.
And Woodward has become so popular with the male audience she launched her own 2013 calender featuring a stunning selection of snaps of the blonde-haired presented.
Woodward got on to Twitter soon after Casey’s Carton House success saying: “Can’t express how happy I am @Paul Casey played a beautiful game today….every day I am proud of him but today I am lost for words. #iloveyou.”
The certainly have hit it off and that was evident last fortnight during the BMW International Open in Munich where Woodward competed in the Pro-Am and then had some encouragement from Casey who came out to support her.
The pair then was observed having a great time at the BMW International Open 25th anniversary Players Night where they dressed in traditional clothing and joined other players and beaus in a mechanical cow milking contest.
Casey was then asked www.golfybymiss.com yesterday at Carton House of the support and confidence he’s gained in Woodward’s company.
“Pollyanna’s fantastic,” he said.
“I think she understands me very well, and for those that have met her will understand the positiveness that she carries with her at all times.
“It’s very infectious and it’s something that, and I’m not that way, and I need that, and it’s nice to have that around. She is very calm, and I think that’s been a very positive influence on my golf and on my life in general.”
And Casey had some words of comfort, albeit careful what he would say, for fellow Nike staff player, Rory McIlroy who crashed out after two rounds in his national Open.
Casey said: “Um, um, um, um. Whatever I say could be delicate. Let’s say I have the fullest confident in Rory and I agree with what I have been reading that Rory is a very streaky player.
“I agree he is like Phil Mickelson but I have 100% confidence in Rory that he will be back in the winner’s circle very, very soon.”
