Wozniacki …’My Relationship With Rory McIlroy Is No Distraction For Double Major Winner’.

While the golfing world wonders when Rory McIlroy will finally win in 2013 girlfriend, Caroline Wozniacki believes her relationship with the double Major winner is not a distraction.

The Danish tennis ace followed McIlroy’s poor showing at last weekend’s US Open long into the early hours of the morning from the UK where she was preparing for a Wimbledon warm-up event.

Their relationship kick-started when the pair met in Hamburg in July 2011 at the David Haye v Wladimir Klitschko world title fight.

And while McIlroy has won a second Major and six other events in that period the 24-year old is yet to win this year.

Many observers have singled out Wozinacki as a big ‘distraction’ in McIlroy’s life but the former Women’s World No. 1 will not hear of such talk.

“It is a great life being involved in sport but at this level there are ups and downs,’ she said in an article in the Daily Mail.

“The ups are the best feeling in the world and the downs can hit you hard. It is great to have someone at your side who understands that.

“Rory doesn’t need to know everything about tennis; I don’t know about the golf swing. Sport at this level is in the head and it is great to be able to speak to someone who really knows about that. He has 20 or 30 years left to play. I have maybe five. I want to make the most of that.”

‘It wasn’t so bad 10 years ago but now there are more photographers back at home,’ she says. ‘Even when you don’t see them, you see their pictures and you think, “Where did they come from?”

‘Yes, people there are very supportive, they say, ‘well played’ and that’s nice, definitely. But in Monaco you don’t need to think how you look in the morning. You can buy breakfast on the way to practice and not have to worry about your make-up or what you are wearing.

“You can do your own thing and the weather is beautiful.”

And while McIlroy could have easily been seen to supporting this week’s 25th anniversary BMW International Open in Munich, he instead was courtside in London to watch his girlfriend yesterday (Wed) defeat Britain’s Laura Robson at the Aegon International at Eastbourne.
