Thracian Cliffs – Exclusive Hole-by-Hole Look At Black Sea Golfing Wonder.

This week’s Thracian Cliffs Golf and Beach Resort, and host venue to this week’s Volvo World Match-Play Championship, has to be one of the most stunningest golf courses I have ever walked.

The Gary Player designed course is laid out along the Black Sea shoreline at Kavarna and about 60 kilometers north of Varna, the third largest city in Bulgaria.

TV footage and still photographs of Thracian Cliffs this week are set to undoubtedly stun the golfing world.

The course has been likened to the ‘Pebble Beach’ of Europe.

But Thracian Cliffs is far more stunning than Pebble Beach and if anything it’s Pebble Beach, Old Head at Kinsale in Ireland, Tralee also in Ireland and the famed Whistling Straits and host venue for the 2015 Ryder Cup, all rolled into one.

The majority of views of Thracian Cliffs absolutely take your breath away.

The course measures four kilometres from end to end – that’s from the second green on the southern end of the course to the 10th green on the far northern side.

There is a drop of some 40 metres to the Black Sea shoreline for the most part at the 5th and 6th holes while the 18th tee is some 60 metres higher than the likes of 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th holes.

So steep is the walk from green to tee that organisers will have a fleet of buggies on hand to ferry players and caddies to the next tee.  Caddies are being afforded buggies also to inspect the course ahead of the Euro 3m tournament while players in Wednesday’s Pro-Am will have access also to buggies.

Welshman Jamie Donaldson, the reigning Irish Open and Abu Dhabi HSBC Champion, enjoyed the honour mid-afternoon today (Monday) of being the first to play the course.

Hereunder is www.golfbytourmiss.com exclusive photographs of the stunning Thracian Cliffs course AND a special thank you to Tournament Director, Jose Maria Zamora for the buggy ride around this remarkable addition to the Race to Dubai.
