Sergio Garcia Refuses To Let Dust Settle On His Frosty Relationship With Tiger Woods.

Sergio Garcia refuses to let the dust settle on his frosty relationship with Tiger Woods declaring he doesn’t need the 14-time Major winner as a friend.

The pair has been at loggerheads since an incident on the third day of last fortnight’s Players Championship at Ponte Vedre in Florida.

Garcia was furious and pointed a finger at Woods when spectators began cheering as Woods pulled a club out of bag right at the time the Spaniard was playing his second shot from trees at the second hole on the TPC Sawgrass course.

Woods, who went onto to win the event for a third occasion, quickly dismissed the accusation indicating he had been advised by a marshal Garcia had already played his shot.

However two separate marshals then came forward denying Woods ever spoke to marshals.

Garcia was again quizzed on the incident ahead of this week’s European Tour flagship BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

“I can’t like everybody and there is people that you connect with  and there’s people that you don’t ,” said Garcia to reporters today (TUES).

“He (Woods) doesn’t need me in his life, I don’t need him in mine, and lets move on and keep doing what we’re doing.

“There’s never really been a true connection I would have with maybe Luke (Donald) or Adam Scott or some of the other guys that I get along well with.”

Garcia was asked if he felt vindicated by his actions given two marshals later came forward to support Garcia’s side of the argument.

“I don’t know if it’s done or not,” he said.

“I try to tell the truth as much as possible to everybody.  And you know, usually the truth usually always wins.

“So that’s all I can do, and I think we should kind of move on and kind of forget, well it will be difficult to forget, but kind of move on about what happened and everybody has seen what they have seen.

“Life goes on.  So it’s one of those things that it was unfortunate it happened, but you know, it happened.”

And Garcia, commenting in an article by respected colleague Paul Mahoney on www.golf.com said:

“He called me a whiner. He’s probably right.  But that’s also probably the first thing he’s told you guys that’s true in 15 years. I know what he’s like. You guys are finding out.”

Garcia is also quoted in today’s (TUES) edition of the Daily Mail, declaring bluntly ‘we don’t like each other’.

“We have not spoken and I don’t really have any plans to contact him,” said Garcia.

“He is not going to say ‘sorry’, which I can understand coming from him

“It wasn’t my fault.  I am not the one who should go to him.  I don’t care who he is.  It doesn’t matter if it is Tiger Woods or Luke Donald, who is my best friend on tour.  If I have done something wrong I will go and say: ‘Sorry, I hope it is okay and that we can move on.

“But if I am not the one who did the thing then I am not going to go up to him and say, ‘Sorry for you doing that thing to me. That’s nonsense.”

Garcia, and again speaking today at Wentworth, indicated if paired against Woods in next year’s Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, he would welcome the arrangement.

“It’s great and it is what it is, and it doesn’t mean I cannot play with him,” added Garcia.

“It’s just another player, obviously a good player. It is just when I’m playing with someone I enjoy, there’s a bit more talking going around, and you’re playing with someone that you don’t fancy as much, you’re just a little bit quite.”
