Golf Ruling Bodies Look Likely To Announce Anchoring Ban Next Tuesday

Golf’s ruling bodies, the St. Andrews based R & A and the New Jersey based USGA, look set to announce an anchoring ban next Tuesday.

Both have released advisory notices of a ‘Rules of Golf’ Press Conference, and while it’s not definite a ban will be announced Peter Dawson as CEO of the R & A hinted some weeks ago the two ruling bodies were close to an announcement on the controversial manner of anchoring the belly putter and/or long-handled putter to the body.

R&A RULES OF GOLF PRESS CONFERENCE

St Andrews, Scotland, 17 May 2013: The R&A will host a Rules of Golf press conference on Tuesday.

Time: The press conference will take place at 1pm on Tuesday, 21 May 2013.

Venue: The Ryder Cup Room in the Wentworth Clubhouse, Wentworth Drive, Virginia Water, Surrey, GU25 4LS.

Attendees: Peter Dawson, Chief Executive of The R&A, David Rickman, Executive Director – Rules and Equipment Standards, The R&A.
