Andrew Dodt Secures 41-Year Tour First – Two Aces In the Same Round.

Australia’s Andrew Dodt became the first player in the 41-year history of the European Tour to record two hole-in-one’s in the same round when he aced 11th hole or the second of his round, and then the seventh or his 16th on day two of the Nordea Masters in Stockholm.

The odds of two aces in the same round has been calculated at 1 in 67 million.

“I can’t get my head around it,” said Dodt.   “I’m pretty proud to be the first one to do it.”

He was presented with a box of champagne by the tournament sponsors and continued:  “I made a few more birdies in between, then a couple of bogeys and I was heading the wrong way when I got to the seventh, our 16th hole.

“The shot at the 11th kick-started things. It was the perfect club for a 6-iron, little draw, and it was slam dunk straight in the hole.

“I didn’t putt very well today so I’m glad I was able to hole with a long club!”

“The ace at the seventh was ann 8-iron that felt a little bit heavy at the start, but right on line and it went in.”

While they were Dodt’s first aces competing on the Europena Tour the Ganton-born golfer revealed he has had seven hole-in-one’s in his career.

But the effort along with five birdies and two bogeys helped the 27-year old golfer to post a 65 and make the halfway right on the two under par mark.

However Dodt looked headed for the weekend off after posting a first round 77.

Dodt is a former Avantha Masters champion but last year only just managed to hold onto his Tour card in securing the second last order of merit position to retain full 2013 Tour membership.

The only player to record two aces in a single PGA Tour round is Yusaku Miyazato, who accomplished the feat at the 2006 Reno-Tahoe Open.
