Gregory Bourdy Now Has Company After Tianlang Guan Slapped With Penalty For Slow Play

Frenchman Gregory Bourdy now has company in the Major Championship ‘Tortoises Club’ after China’s 14-year old Tianlang Guan was slapped with a stroke penalty for slow play late in his round on day two of the Masters.

Bourdy was competing in the final round of 92nd PGA in 2010 at Whistling Straits.

He was partnering American J B Holmes when he was spoken to by a rules official when the group became out of position at the 10th hole.

But when the group did not regain their position by the 11th hole, the group was then timed.

However Bourdy then voilated the 40 seconds time allowance when he took 61 seconds to play his third shot at the par which under the rules required an official warning.

As the group did not regain its position, the timing continued from holes 12 through to 16.

Bourdy’s second violation occurred when he took 69 seconds to play his second shot on the par five, 16th hole, and this violation resulted in a one stroke penalty so that instead of a par Bourdy had to write down a ‘6’.
