The question came from the female correspondent for the New York Times who asked Woods why he and Vonn decided to go public with their relationship.

“Well, it’s very simple as we are very happy we’re we are at and we also wanted to limit the paparazzi and those sleazy websites that are out there following us,” he said.

“I’ve had situations where it has been very dangerous for my kids given the extent they (photographers) will go to.

“So we basically devalued those first photos.

“Unfortunately that is the way it is in our society nowadays and we felt by releasing photographs it was the best thing to do, and we are happy about it.”

And when Woods was asked if he will be taking any advice in dealing with a high profile double sporting relationship from World No. 1 Rory McIlroy who is dating tennis ace, Caroline Wozniacki, Woods stated:  “No!”

The 37-year old Woods will be teeing up this week looking not only to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational for an eight time but also to return to World No. 1.

The last time Woods was No. 1 in the world was on 30th October, 2010.

That’s a gap of 20,904 hours or 871 days or 2 years, 4 months and 19 days or roughly 125 weeks.

Woods holds the record of having reigned as the world’s best golfer for a combined total of 623 weeks.
