Ireland’s Shane Lowry now faces a 10-day anxious wait to see if he qualifies for this month’s $US 8.75m WGC – Accenture Match-Play Championship in Arizona.
The current World No. 62 is certain to drop further down the rankings when they’re adjusted Monday morning after missing the halfway cut with scores of 74 and 72 for a disappointing two-over par tally.
Lowry needs to be among the top-64 as at February 11th to be assured of an Arizona tee-time.
“There’s not much I can do now but wait and see, and as I said earlier in the week if I don’t get into the match-play it’s not end of the world,” he said.
“And I’ve also ruled out going to Joburg this coming week.”
Dubliner Peter Lawrie produced a two under par 70 to move to eight under par and just four shots behind South African Richard Sterne who birdied the last also in a round of 70 to move one clear of the field on 12-under par.
