Shane Lowry’s Goal Of Toppling Rory McIlroy Spoilt With Clubs Delayed On Route To Arizona.

Shane’s Lowry’s goal of toppling World No. 1 Rory McIlroy tomorrow (Wed) has not been helped with his tools of trade not arriving to Monday.

Lowry will face good friend and fellow management stablemate in one of 32 matches on the first day of the $US 8.75m WGC – Accenture Match-Play Championship

A report in today’s Irish Examiner stays the reigning Portugal Masters champion clubs were delayed in transit and did arrive to Dove Mountain till yesterday.

In the interim Lowry borrowed a set and played the course in the company of Graeme McDowell who is staring at the second all-Ireland match tomorrow as he faces triple Major winning, Padraig Harrington.

With McIlroy to attend a press conference later today (Tues) where he’s certain to be asked about his horror start to the new season.

However until then much of the pre-event interest has been with the World No. 1 set to face his good friend ranked No. 66

“Listen, he’s the best golfer in the world and it’s hard to get an edge on him,” said Lowry in the Examiner.

“I just have to go out and make as many birdies as I can and see where I am on Wednesday afternoon.

“He’s always been a go for it player and that suits me. I have no fear of going at flags and taking the golf course on.”

While McIlroy is no stranger to the event having lost 2 & 1 in last year’s final to American Hunter Mahan, Lowry is making his debut in the event and simply wants to ‘put on a good showing’.

“I have pressure on myself too,” he said.

“I don’t want to go out and make a show of myself. I still want to go out there and do well.”
