Fallen Spectators Aplenty As Errant Shots Continue In PGA.

The number of spectators hit by errant tee shots during this week’s PGA Championship continues unabated.

World No. 2 Rory McIlroy hit a spectator on the hip during the opening round at Kiawah Island.

Then on day two, Australia’s Adam Scott sent Jean Otter from Maryland crashing to the ground after hitting the woman on the head with a shot at the seventh hole.

The young English lad hit by an errant Rory McIlroy drive in last month's Open Championship.

Scott had lost a two iron on the strong breeze and it cannoned into Otter’s  head, splitting the skin and drawing blood, some of which ended up on the  Australian’s ball.

Medics bandaged the wound and advised a trip to hospital to get the wound  stitched, but not before Scott showed concern and made a point of getting her  name and address so he could make a proper apology.

”I just wanted to make sure she was OK,” Scott said.

”And, luckily enough,  there was a doctor standing right next to her who was kind of treating her until  the medics got there. I hope she’s going to be OK. I’ll find out if she’s all  right. She seemed to be OK at the time and she will be getting a big bunch of  flowers from me.”

On day three, Scotland’s Paul Lawrie flattened a male spectator with a wild rescue club shot to the left of the pa three, 17th.

Lawrie at first thought his ball hit a TV tower but when he and his caddy, Dave Kenny arrived there was a 40-something male spectator lying spread eagle and with two bags of ice over his head.

The Scot felt ‘horrible’ at the sight of the spectator lying on the ground and with blood over his shirt but after a short time he was chatting with Lawrie, who presented him with a signed glove and ball.

And then early in Tiger Woods round on day three, the 14-time Major Champion hit a male spectator on the fourth hole.

However the 50s looking male was fine and then very happy when Woods pulled out a glove, signed it and gave it to the fellow.

But he then collected another spectator, this time a young lad, with a wild second shot that came to rest under the legs of the youngster.

However Woods showed his concern in pulling out a second glove and also signing it before finally bogeying the hole.

So, Woods eventually headed to the fifth having lost two gloves and dropping one shot.
