Rory McIlroy effortlessly eased his way closer to a sixth Race to Dubai title in posting a five-under-par-67 at the DP World Tour season finale in Dubai.
McIlroy capped his round holing a stunning 48-footer for a sixth birdie of his day at the par-3 17th to join England’s Tyrrell Hatton in the lead at five-under in the $10m event at the Jumeirah Estates resort.

Rory McIlroy has spoken ahead of this week of his desire to cut down his yearly playing schedule.
The World No. 3 at the close of this week’s DP World Tour Championship will have contested 26 tournaments this year and that will be five more than last year while the last time he played anywhere near 26 events was 27 back in 2010.
McIlroy’s highest number events a year remains 29 events in 2008 and in a first full year as a professional, and also a year he turned 19-years of age.
