Jose Maria Olazabal Still Striving For Sharpness Less Than Three Weeks To The Ryder Cup.

It is less than three weeks to the Ryder Cup but the European Ryder Cup captain, Jose Maria Olazabal is still focussed on finding his game.

Olazabal missed the cut in the KLM Open with scores of 71 and 76 and in an event he captured in 1999.

His Dutch delight was the sixth of 23 European Tour wins for the Spaniard.

And despite not playing all four rounds in Holland this year it has not stopped ultra-competitive Olazabal continuing to work on his game.

In fact, he headed straight to Hilversum range after Friday’s play and was observed spending a good few hours again hitting balls this morning and into the early afternoon.

Olazabal will contest one more event before leading his team to Chicago and that’s next Thursday’s starting BMW Italian Open in Turin.

And he heads to Italy for a 10th occasion in his career but a first appearance since 2004.

Olazabal will be looking to finally break his Italian Open duck after finishing runner-up on three occasions – 1990 when he made his debut in the tournament and then second in 1997 and ’98.  (Information on his Italian Open record – www.golfobserver.com)
