Reed “I’d Love It” When Asked If Reed’s Current Winning Form Is Worthy Of USA Ryder Cup Selection.

Patrick Reed arrived into Munich after a long haul flight via London as winner of the last Sunday’s inaugural  LIV Golf Dallas.

It was a first win in his beloved home Lone Star State for Reed and boosted the aspirations for the past Masters champion in qualifying for the USA Ryder Cup team in September at Bethpage Park Black in New York State.

Reed will contest this week’s BMW International Open and for a second year running as a life time member of the DP World Tour but whether or not he will automatically earn a place in Bradley’s Bethpage Park Black will hinge of how Reed performs in next fortnight’s Open Championship at Royal Portrush.

Five years ago, Reed secured a share of 10th place when the 2019 Open was staged along the Irish Sea at Royal Portrush, so it make take an even better effort that if the now 34-year-old Reed who has won 11 pro events in his caeer if he’s to either qualify automatically or be afforded a USA Captain Keegan Bradley ‘wildcard’ pick as a member of Bradley’s team/

Reed was out off the 10th tee at 1.30pm local time in Munich earlier today unsure if he should tee-up or not when this journalist approached him some 4 hours later to ask him his toughts on whether or not he may play wearing USA colours in a fourth Ryder Cup.

As it turned out, it was not till just a minute late at 1.31pm when the siren sounded to herald tee-off on the afternoon pro-am.

It was not will just with a few holes to play that this journaist waited to approach Reed and his brother-in-law caddy Kessler, firstly congratulating them on their Dallas win and then asked his current Ryder Cup playing scenario.

“I’d love it”, said Reed.

“Anytime I can travel to represent my country means a lot and in saying that it would an awful lot to get back onto that USA Ryder Cup side.

“It would be just so good to be back on the winning team I was in 2016 and take care of business, and bring back the Ryder Cup to the United States where it belongs and hopefully I have the opportunity that can achieve that goal”.

Reed arrived in the Bavarian capital after a long-haul flight last Sunday night from Dallas via London, England and then transferring to Munich for this week’s prestigious DP World Tour event where he finished in a share of 13th a year ago.

Currently, Reed is ranked No. 57 in the world and this despite having dropped three OWGR places in winning last Sunday’s inaugural LIV event in his home city of Dallas.

Regardless a decent showing this week in Munich along with a strong effort in next week’s LIV Golf event at Valderrama in Spain very well could see Reed head to Royal Portrush as the in-form player that captain Bradley could very be seeking for his Stars and Stripes side.

“I’m looking forward to this year’s Open Chamionship as it will be my 10th appearance since a first in 2014 while I was 10th when The Open was last played at Royal Portush the last time the event was held there in 2019”, said Reed.

“Portrush was a blast and a venue where I played really well last time The Open was staged there.

“I’ve arrived here in Germany in no better form having secured the ‘W’ last week back hom in Dallas and the only real thing having to deal with bing the long-haul travelling but since arriving here back to Munich, I have been trying to save energy, so all we can do is see how the week goes.

“I’m not playing the Scottish next week but I am competing in the LIV sanctioned LIV Golf Andalucia at Valderramas, so looking forward to that before then heading to The Open”.
