Ferguson Chuffed To Secure Maiden Tour Ace & 750 Stroopwafels – Final Round KLM Open

Scot Ewen Ferguson was clearly chuffed to record a maiden tournament ace and earn himself the strange prize of 750 Dutch famed stroopwafels  on the final day of the 2015 KLM Open in Amsterdam.

The three-time Tour winning Ferguson holed out at the par-3 seventh hole in a closing round four-under 67 and a similar four-under par tally on the host The International course.

“I got onto the tee and given the toughness of the seventh hole, I thought a ‘3’ here would be good and especially after a birdie the hole before”, he said.

“I had around 190-yards while it was blowing a gale out there, and the ball just took one bounce and rolled in, so I was super excited and it was very good”,

“It’s my first in tournament play and it was such a good feeling seeing it go in while over the next few holes I was thinking to myself ‘now don’t go messing up”.

There was just his fellow players and their caddies plus two or three hole officials on hand to witness Ferguson’s ace but thankfully for the Dubai-based Scot SKY Golf had it covered.

Ferguson said he’s had three prior aces but they were due practice rounds.

750 Stroopwafels – Ewen Ferguson’s reward for a first Tour ace.

“After three aces during practice rounds it was good to get one in a tournament”, he said smiling.

There was not only the honour on the next tee for Ferguson but to mark the 105th edition of the KLM Open, on holes 4, 7, 13, and 17 — which together total exactly 750 metres — a hole-in-one earns players 750 stroopwafels that will be shipped to his parents home in Scotland as part of Amsterdam’s 750th celebrations.

“Stroopwafels is just what I’m needing, so I will have them sent to my mum and dad”, he said smiling.

“We’ll have our own stroopwafel party”.
