DeChambeau Now Focusses On Quail Hollow & The Rodman Wanamaker Trophy.

After going so close earlier last month at The Masters and no surprise Bryson DeChambeau will now head into next fortnight’s PGA Championship in the best form possible after capturing the inaugural LIV Golf Korea.

DeChambeau, decked out in all white, went into the final day at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in Incheon enjoying a four-shot lead but not counting on Charles Howell 111 drawing level with three holes remaining.

A Howell bogey on 16 sent DeChambeau back into the lead andwith the 31-year-old seizing the advantage with birdies on the final two holes to win with by three shots with a 19-under par tally.

DeChambeau said he was “pretty nervous” on a front nine that included one birdie and one bogey, but settled down after the turn.

“After the ninth hole, I don’t know what hit me, I just said ‘you know what, just play like a kid again’,” he said.

“I started doing that on the back nine and striped a three wood on 11, gave me a lot of confidence.”

The win gave DeChambeau his first title of the LIV season ahead of his next event for 2025 – the May 15th to 18th PGA Championship at Quail Hollow in North Carolina.

And after finishing runner-up in last year’s PGA Championship while going so close to winning at Augusta National the reigning US Ope winner would love nothing better to be handed the gleaming Rodman Wanamaker trophy in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“My goal is to win every tournament that I show up to”, said DeChambeau.

“Scottie (Scheffler) is on a great run. Joaquin Niemann is on a great run. Jon Rahm has been playing well. There’s a lot of star-studded talent out there right now that’s going to be in the PGA Championship. We’re going to be battling it out.

“I’m just glad to have pushed through in this victory and won this event, but there’s a lot more work to be done this year. There’s three more majors, and my eyes are focused on that with all the other LIV events, doing my absolute best in every single event I show up to”.

And DeChambeau was full of praise for this Crushers GC team-mate, Howell.

“It’s a weird dynamic”, said DeChambeau.

“It’s much like Formula One. You’re rooting for him as much as you can. When they make birdie, you’re like great birdie, that’s awesome, and we were close to the lead for the team standing.

“I was proud every time Charles made a birdie. I was happy for him. Then the competitor inside me said, all right, I’ve got to match it. There were times where it was tough to feel like I was up there with him. He just kept going. It was a good battle.

“I don’t know, man. It was fun. Charles, tough competitor, and we had a good time.”

Well said and well played, Bryson.
