We all know that those teeing-up at the Masters are allocated a number and the number is displayed on the crisp white overalls worn by the player’s caddy.
However, there’s only one player to carry number 1 and that is the defending champion, so this year Scottie Scheffler’s caddy will be sporting the No. 1 on his caddie overalls.
All other numbers are allocated in terms of when a player registers.
The first player to register at Augusta National for this year’s Masters was American Max Greyserman, who is making his Masters debut thanks to ending 2024 inside the top-50 on the World Rankings.

So, as No. 1 was for Scheffler it meant Greyserman was handed No. 2.
Next to register and allocated No. 3 was Evan Beck, a 34-year-old investment analyst and former pro golfer who earned his place in this year’s Masters by winning the 2024 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship.
Hideki Matsuyama a past Masters winner and the first Japanese winning of an Augusta green jacket carried No. 1 in 2022 but this year it will be No. 16.
A year later Jon Rahm won the 2023 Masters with his caddy sporting No. 49.
Top-ranked Scot Robert MacIntyre, and returning to the Masters for a first time since 2022, will carry No. 28 while his fellow 2023 European Ryder Cup winning team-mate Shane Lowry was handed No. 38.
