Sometimes a great par save is just as good as any birdie as Scott Jamieson will attest after a brilliant bogey-free final round 65 in the Bapco Energies Bahrain Golf Championship.
Jamieson, 41, was seven-under for his round coming to the par-4 17th where there is water all the way down the right side of the hole at the host Royal Golf Club course.
However the Scot found the water some 306-yards off the tee and still facing 110-yards to the pin.
After taking a penalty drop, Jamieson landed his now third shot some 18-feet shy of the flagstick and then walked-up and rolled-in a superb par save.
Jamieson then headed down the 18th, found the green in regulation and two-putted for par in a overall 10-under tally and proudly walk-off as the early clubhouse leader.
The Florida-based Scot’s effort continues a run of low last day scores having posted a 67 last Sunday on the final day of the Ras Al Khamiah to share eighth while Jamieson shot a sizzling 64 last December to grab a tie for ninth at the Mauritius Open.
UPDATE….
England’s Laurie Canter birdied the first extra play-off off to capture a second Tour title but only after Spaniard Pablo Larrazabal bogeyed the last in regulation play in a round of 70 for a 14-under tally.
The nine-time winning Larrazabal sadly then bogeyed the 72nd for a second time while Canter holed a three-footer winning birdie putt.
A second Englishman in Daniel Young was also in the play-off but he also bogeyed the first extra hole.
Jamieson eventually shared 18th place.
