The Genesis Invitational Notes
- The Genesis Invitational is the seventh event of the 2025 PGA TOUR Season and the third of eight Signature Events. Like all Signature Events, the limited-field event offers increased FedExCup points (700) and a heightened purse ($20 million), however, additional elements set the three player-hosted events apart (The Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard and the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday):
- Only Signature Events to feature a cut: 36-hole cut, low 50 players and ties and any additional players within 10 strokes of the 36-hole lead
- 20 percent prize allocation to winner ($4 million), up from 18 percent
- One tournament host exemption, not restricted to PGA TOUR members: The Genesis Invitational (Danny List, the Charlie Sifford Memorial Exemption), Arnold Palmer Invitation presented by Mastercard (Jackson Koivun, Arnold Palmer Cup Exemption), the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday (Jack Nicklaus Award)
- Due to recent devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, and out of respect for those affected, the decision was made to relocate The Genesis Invitational from The Riviera Country Club to Torrey Pines’ South Course, which hosted the Farmers Insurance Open three weeks earlier
- First time since 2020 that two different PGA TOUR tournaments were played at the same venue in the same season: the Workday Charity Open and the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday were played in back-to-back weeks at Muirfield Village Golf Club
- Four eligible players are not competing this week: Tiger Woods (Special Exemption), Xander Schauffele, Alex Noren, Chris Kirk (each Top 50 on the prior season’s FedExCup Points List)

PGA TOUR Season Notes
- With Belgium’s Thomas Detry winning last week’s WM Phoenix Open, international players have won five of the first six PGA TOUR tournaments this season, with Harris English being the only American winner (Farmers Insurance Open). Detry is also the season’s only first-time winner, with the first five tournaments won by players with multiple TOUR titles.
- The Aon Next 10 represents the top 10 players not already exempt, from the FedExCup standings, while the Aon Swing 5 includes the top five FedExCup points earners, not already exempt, from a collection of Full-Field Events leading up to each Signature Event; the Aon Next 10 for The Genesis Invitational was determined through the 2024 FedExCup Fall standings
- Last week’s WM Phoenix Open marked the final opportunity for players to earn FedExCup points towards the Aon Swing 5 for entry into this week’s Genesis Invitational; the top five players not otherwise exempt who earn the most FedExCup points during the Sony Open in Hawaii, The American Express, the farmers Insurance Open and the WM Phoenix Open, will qualify for The Genesis Invitational
