The famed Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades near Santa Monica is among property under threat as out-of-control forest fires race continue on a destructive path.
Residents of the Pacific Palisades Highland community first reported the fire at 10:30 a.m. Pacific Time Tuesday.
This neighborhood sits about five miles west of the Riviera Country Club and the venue each year for the Tiger Woods’ hosted Genesis Invitational.
Initially, Riviera was not included in the red evacuation zone, which poses the highest level of danger however with the fire enlarging local officials expanded the red zone to include the Riviera course also set to host the 2031 U.S. Open.
