Niemann Excited To Now ‘Tie The Knot’ After The Chilean’s Red Hot Season.

After his best-ever season there is more celebration ahead for red hot Chilean golfer Joaquin Niemann will ‘tie the knot’ on December 21st.

Nieman’s future wife is Christina Hellema Puga, a fellow Chilean who is into architecture, art, photography and traveling, and is studying architecture at the University de Desarrollo in Santiago, the capital of Chile.

The couple will marry after Niemann captured a 15th pro career win and  third victory of this year at the PIF Saudi International in Riyadh and, in the process, securing the Asian Tour’s International Series No. 1 title.

Only World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler won more ‘individual’ titles this year than Niemann,

The 26-year-old Niemann was asked following his win what plans he had coming up in the off-season and it was then he calmly and casually mentioned: ‘getting married’.

“I’ve got my wedding the 21st, Christmas, New Year, and a few vacations with the entire family. So I’m really excited for it”, he said.

There’s only one golfer in 2024 to taste success more times than Niemann and that was World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler who collected victory No. 8 of the year in successfully defending the Tiger Woods hosted Hero World Challenge.

Victory for Niemann in Riyadh has seen him jump 50 places and back to World No. 74.

Of course, being a LIV Golf player meant missing out on World Ranking points following his two LIV Golf wins earlier this year but the 26-year-old’s finish to his sixth pro career season was just as impressive competing in the closing two events of the DP World Tour season and then travelling to Melbourne to defend his Australian Open trophy and then be rewarded with a play-off victory in the Asian Tour’s PIF Saudi International in Riyadh.

Niemann had moved to No. 59 in the world in capturing the Australian Open but despite winning both in February and March on the non-world ranking LIV Tour, he was No. 93 in the world teeing-up in a sixth Masters.

He moved to 88th following a top-40 PGA Championship showing in Valhalla and while not qualifying for the US Open he dropped to World No. 110 after his top-60 showing in The Open at Royal Troon.

Niemann proudly represented Chile in sharing ninth at the Olympic Games in Versailles before going back onto the LIV Tour and finish runner-up twice in the Tour’s remaining three events and eventually finishing runner-up on the 2024 LIV season money-list.

Niemann then committed himself to two events in the UAE, finishing a best of T7tth in the DP World Tour Championship ahead of journeying ‘Down Under’ and end T5th at Kingston Heath.

And he’s proudly wrapped-up his year, and just as how begun, with victory in the Saudi Arabian capital and in the process capturing pro career victory No. 15 and jumping 50 places and back to World No. 74. As well, Niemann was handed a second trophy in finishing No. 1 on the International Series and remarkably contesting just two events with the first in grabbing third place in the February 25th concluding event in Oman.

And in coming from a non-golfing nation as Chile, and winning twice this year also in a non-golf nation, Niemann was asked his impressions of Saudi Arabia was the country was doing to promote golf.

“They’ve been doing a great job”, he said.

“I come from a country that golf is not big, and you know, you can tell the same thing. There’s something we want to improve, especially in sports, but me being a golfer, I’m able to see what golf is in Saudi. I’ve been able to be part of it for the last three, four years and see the progress that Golf Saudi has made with PIF. It’s great.

“For me, it really is a bit harder to do things right because I know this is a platform that is going to take off on TOUR at the next level. So to be part of it and inspire new generations. Like I saw a lot of kids watching today, and I was really excited for them to have seen that the last couple of years. It’s very exciting. You can tell there’s been progress, and it’s been great”.

Well said, Joaquin and congratulations of your marriage.
