Today 1st January, 2025 marks the 25th aniversary of hitting a first golf shot on a golf course of the 2000 Millennium.
I undertook this history-making first on the stroke of midnight at the Manamo’ui Golf Club course on the Pacific Ocean island of Tonga.
Tonga boasts the most easterly golf course in the world and given the location of the golf course, and it also being midnight I had the great help of a couple of people who kindly offered to park their cars with their headlights turned on close to the first tee so we could better see what we were doing.

I had my brand new Callaway on a tee many minutes ahead of midnight in readiness for the historic first shot of 2000.
