Garcia & McDowell Head US Open Qualifiers Teeing-Up In Dallas

Former US Open winner Graeme McDowell and past Masters winner Sergio Garcia are among 270 players looking to secure a handful of places on Monday into next month’s championship in Los Angeles.

McDowell and Garcia, each aged 43, will be teeing-up over 36 holes of the Northwood and the Bent Tree Country Club course, located about a 10 minute apart in the northern suburbs of Dallas, Texas.

It’s 13-years ago when McDowell celebrated Father’s Day by winning the 2010 US Open at Pebble Beach and becoming the first European in 40-years to win the major.

Two years later in 2012 McDowell finished joint second behind Webb Simpson owever his 10-years winners exemption expired in 2020, and he’s not played the championship since.

Garcia captured the 2017 Masters however his five-year US Open exemption expired last year while his best finish in a US Open was fourth in 2002.

Joining McDowell and Garcia will be a host of Europeans including Sergio Alex Noren, Thomas Pieters, Martin Laird, Russell Knox and Yannick Paul competing over the two courses.

Officials indicated they will not know to Monday how many places will be available into the June 15th to 18th US Open being played on the North Course at the Los Angeles Country Club.
