Caldwell Pulls Off Career Best Shot To Set-Up Scandinavian Mixed Success In Sweden

Northern Ireland’s Jonathan Caldwell pulled-off the shot of his pro career to seal a maiden European Tour victory at the inaugural Scandinavian Mixed hosted by Annika and Henrik in Sweden,

Caldwell sent his penultimate shot high in the air and with his ball coming to rest to within virtual tap-in distance for a closing birdie in an equal best round of the week 64 to win by a shot at 18-under par in glorious conditions on the Vallda course to the south of Gothenburg.

It was then an anxious wait for Caldwell as Spain’s Adrain Otaegui three-putted the last for a bogey to virtually hand Caldwell the title.

And what a belated birthday present for the Northern Irishman capturing a maiden Tour title in his 48th start and just three days after turning 37.

Caldwell was very emotional in singling out his parents for praise and moments after declaring: “The drinks are on me and put them on my tab” in a message to all his friends at his beloved Clandeboye Golf Club outside of Belfast.
