MacIntyre Confident Of Finding His A-Games At Arnie’e Event

Top-ranked Scot Robert MacIntyre took the unusual step to post himself a ‘reminder’ tweet in leaving the Florida west coast and hoping it pays off in finding his ‘A’ game at this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando.

MacIntyre will be making his debut in the famed event and again taking place on Palmer’s beloved Bay Hill Resort course and just a 10-minute drive from Disney World in the playground capital of the Sunshine State.

The Oban lefty remains at No. 43 on the World Rankings following last week’s disappointing finish in the Workday WGC at The Concession.

And before heading off to Bay Hill, MacIntyre tweeted: “Bob, mind and bring your wedge game this week.”

MacIntyre was one of the more accurate off The Concession tees hitting 41/56 fairways over the four rounds but it was his wedge play around the greens and short stick display that hurt the 24-year-old.

His weekend rounds included hitting 20 of 36 greens in regulation but then recording 30 putts on day three and 32 on Sunday.

MacIntyre was already using the pristine Bay Hill practice facilities yesterday (MON) and is looking forward to Thursday’s 55th anniversary start to Arnie’s £6.67m event.

He said:  “Mr Palmer is a legend of the game.  I’ve never met him and never got to see him play in person but he and Jack (Nicklaus), and obviously Tiger, as well, put the game into a position that we have all been able to make a great living from the game

“It’s just going to be a great experience for me going into my first Arnold Palmer Invitational and just looking forward to teeing-up on his golf course and just admiring everything inside the clubhouse.”

MacIntyre joins Russell Knox and 2011 Arnold Palmer champ, Martin Laird in a rare Scottish PGA Tour threesome competing this week.
