MacIntyre Posts Himself A Twitter Message To Take His Wedge Game To Arnie’s Event.

Young Scot Robert MacIntyre sent himself a ‘message’ via his Twitter account to remind himself to take his wedge game to this week’s debut appearance in the Arnold Palmer Invitational in suburban Orlando.

McIntyre’s four rounds at the Workday WGC at The Concession on the Florida west coast was summed-up he remarked immediately post his round at the 72nd hole in three-putting from 50-feet for bogey in a closing round level par 72 and an eight-over par tally.

MacIntyre said: “My four rounds this week were summed-up on the last hole.

“It just wasn’t that good of a week.  I felt like I was hitting the ball alright and it’s that I couldn’t get to grips with the greens and the surrounds, as they just battered me.

“I played really solid tee-to-green but my short-game and putting just let me down.”

MacIntyre had one-putted his closing eight holes on day one for 27 putts but the Nicklaus/Jacklin co-designed layout took it’s toll on his putting over ensuing three rounds.

The Oban golfer posted 31 putts in Friday’s score of 72, 30 during Saturday’s horror 78 and then 32 putts on day four.

MacIntyre was not wasting time taking the two-hour drive north-east to this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational where he’ll join US-based Scots Russell Knox and Martin Laird, who captured the 2011 event.

And MacIntyre will look back on his first event of five over the next seven weeks in the States pleased with his long game in hitting 41 of 56 fairways over the four rounds.

He said:  “I am driving the ball very good and I’m along hitting my long irons good but it’s just my short irons are pure.

“So, there’s a lot of positives for me heading to Bay Hill and the Arnold Palmer Invitational

“I haven’t practiced a whole lot so there’s a bit of work to do at the start of this week that should see me okay come Thursday.”
