Bezuidenhout Breezes To Five-Shot South African Open Final Round Lead

It just gets better and better with local hero Christiaan Bezuidenhout taking a five-shot lead into the final round of the 110th South African Open at Sun City.

Bezuidehout, and the highest world-ranked player in the field, showed his class grabbing six third round birdies in a third straight round of 67 for at 15-under par.

South African countryman Darren Frittelli (70) and Welshman Jamie Donaldson (72) share second place at a distant 10-under par.

The World No. 42 ranked Bezuidenhout has dropped just two shots in the three days as he looks to win back-to-back after capturing last week’s Alfred Dunhill Championship.

“I’m really happy to be in this position. I’ve played three solid rounds of golf and have stuck to my gameplan by not taking the golf course on and just keeping it in play,” said the Callaway attached Bezuidenout.

“This is my fourth week in a row, but  I’ve been sleeping well and my body is holding up quite well. I’m just trying to manage myself. I just need to hold up for another 24 hours. But it’s amazing to be in this position.”

Behind him, Frittelli will be pushing hard on the final day as he’s well aware that Bezuidenhout is not making too many mistakes out there at the moment.

“I’m going to try and go as low as I can, so it will take something around there to catch him because he’s not going to shoot anything less than 70 the way he’s playing.”
