McIlroy Reveals The Time He Spent ‘A Few Months Pocketmoney’ To Play Valderrama

Four-time Major winning Rory McIlroy revealed a on the eve of this week’s PGA Championship something not known to the wider golfing world.

McIlroy was asked if he could remember the last occasion he paid for a green fee.

And in thinking to himself for a handfull of seconds, McIlroy came-up with the answer.

“Valderrama, 2005, 250 Euros,” he said.

Why Valderrama?

“I’ve always liked the look at Valderrama. I was in Spain. Obviously Ryder Cup course. The Tour Championship of The European Tour was there for a lot of years, and it’s one of the — yeah, I was there and spent a few months’ worth of pocket money to go and play.”
