PGA National Turkey Antalya Golf Club Targeting Double Honours.

Renowned as one of Europe’s premier golf resorts, PGA National Turkey Antalya Golf Club’s boasts an enviable golfing pedigree and is aiming to further enhance its global reputation when the sixth annual World Golf Awards are held later this year.

The popular 36-hole golfing venue is in contention for two of the top honours at this year’s event – which will be held in Abu Dhabi in October – with its acclaimed PGA Sultan course shortlisted to be named as ‘Turkey’s Best Golf Course’ and its five-star Kempinski Hotel The Dome among the nominees for the title of ‘Turkey’s Best Golf Hotel’.

Opened in 2003, the PGA Sultan has hosted numerous high-profile tournaments including the 2012 Turkish Airlines World Golf Final, which featured the likes of Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and eventual winner Justin Rose. Measuring 6,477m from the back tees, players must negotiate a number of hazards to score well on the narrow, challenging layout, including no fewer than 12 lakes and 122 bunkers.

One of two luxury hotels at PGA National Turkey, the Kempinski Hotel The Dome features 176 spacious rooms – including 18 villas – and boasts a wealth of elite sports and leisure facilities including tennis, a private beach, a luxury spa and kids’ club, while hotel guests can experience an array of different culinary experiences at its variety of bars and restaurants.

PGA National Turkey has enjoyed outstanding success over the last 12 months which saw the number of rounds played at the resort rise by nearly 95 per cent in 2018. Green fees are predicted to rise by another 15 per cent in 2019, and golfers will find the resort’s two courses in better condition than ever this year following a recent €1 million resort investment in new course and greenkeeping machinery.

Michael Jones, director of golf at PGA National Turkey Antalya Golf Club, said: “It’s been an outstanding last 12 months for the resort, and to have been nominated for these two top world awards is deserved recognition for the outstanding resort experience that we offer on and off the course.

“I’ve never seen our golf courses looking in better condition. They are widely acknowledged as the best in the area and, with continued investment, we’re looking forward to the resort going from strength to strength in the years to come.”

Situated 25 minutes from Antalya, PGA National Turkey Antalya Golf Club’s outstanding facilities include two 18-hole golf courses and two luxury hotels – the 176-room luxury five-star Kempinski Hotel The Dome and the five-star, 442-room, Sirene Belek Hotel, which underwent a €2m room refurbishment programme last winter.

Complementing the layouts are excellent practice facilities including a 300-metre driving range and academy, while the resort is one of a select group of courses to receive the official endorsement of The Professional Golfers’ Association.

Away from the fairways, hotel guests can enjoy access to numerous other sports and leisure facilities including tennis, football, various watersports, kids’ clubs, fabulous pier and two luxury spas, while the resort also offers an array of opulent culinary experiences at a variety of bars and restaurants.

Voting for the 6th World Golf Awards is open until September 15.
