Rory’s Good But ‘DJ’ Is Better Insists Scott

Yes, Rory McIlroy has won more Majors than Dustin Johnson and he’s also won more tournaments around the globe than ‘DJ’ but Johnson is better.

That is the view of Adam Scott ahead of this week’s Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass at Ponte Vedre in Florida.

The very first Australian to win the Masters was quizzed aside from himself, who among the current crop of stars is the most difficult to be when that player is very much on his game.

“I’d have to say Dustin Johnson at the moment,” said Scott.

“He wins more than anyone else, it seems like, consistent leave the last few years. When he’s on, he looked good the other week, where did he win last? Mexico. Yeah, and he had Rory chasing him in Mexico.

“And look, I think Rory’s incredible when he’s on and hard to beat, but I’ll just give a slight edge to Dustin at the moment. Yeah, he looks incredibly sharp. He’s also won twice already this year.”

Correct, as ‘DJ’ captured the inaugural Saudi International and then kept McIlroy at arm’s reach to capture the recent WGC – Mexico Championship.

The victories moved Johnson to 23 pro career titles and now just one less than McIlroy.

And now 12 months since McIlroy last won a title anywhere, Johnson also captured last year’s FedEx St. Jude title and the RBC Canadian Open.

And Scott’s compatriot, Jason Day has also been asked his opinion as to who doesn’t melt in ‘the heat of competition’ suggesting McIlroy is ‘explosive’.

“I would say DJ but then Rory when he’s — I think when his mind’s right and he’s putting good, I think he’s explosive,” said Day.
