Jack Gallacher Pockets Belated 18th Birthday Euro 40,000 Windfall For Dad’s Hero Indian Open Success.

Jack Gallacher, and the recently-turned 18-year old caddying son to Steve Gallacher, is celebrating what should be around a Euro 40,000 windfall after his father’s Hero Indian Open success.

Gallacher ended a five-year victory drought with a remarkable one shot victory in New Delhi.

The 44-year old Scot looked out of any contention in taking a quadruple bogey ‘8’ at the par-4 seventh hole before sensationally regrouped to birdie three of his closing four holes in a round of 71 and win by a stroke at nine-under par.

Gallacher earned a prize cheque of just short of Euro 260,000 and we a caddy normally entitled to around a 15% share of the winnings.

Unless your American Matt Kuchar that translates into Euro 39,000 for son, Jack.

And Gallacher was afterwards full of praise for his son.

“It’s great to win with Jack on the bag, as well which is brilliant. He’s great, as well.  He’s a good caddy.  A top lad.  He’s quite chilled, so nothing really bothers him,” said Gallacher.

“Jack just kept saying to me out there, just keep doing what you are doing and go for shot and that’s all you can do, and get the process right.  Just pick your shot and hit it, and make sure you have the right club but he was as cool as a cucumber.  No problem, at all.

“He has caddied for me now in 20-odd events and we’ve had three top-10s and a win, and to win on Mother’s Day is also brilliant.

“I am really proud of my mum and all that she does for us, so it’s a great day for her to see me and her grandson win today, so I am delighted for her, so it’s been a great all-round day.”
