Aussie Deyen Lawson Drives Off With $111,000 BMW 850M Coupe After Leopard Creek Ace.

Aussie Deyen Lawson celebrated his 28th birthday some three early in winning a brand new $US 111,000 2019 BMW ‘850M Series’ coupe for an ace on the final day of the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek in South Africa.

Lawson, who celebrates his birthday on January 4th, had birdied the par-4 14th hole and then eagled the par-5 15th before stepping-up onto the tough par-3 16th and then see his tee shot hit the green and roll right up to disappear into the cup.

Strangely, there was little excitement on the tee given Lawson was out in one of the first groups of the and with no-one on the tee except for an official under the shade of an umbrella and one fellow, who had a yellow cloth in his hand and seemed to be cleaning the BMW parked on the tee, and only emerged from behind the vehicle to see what the fuss was all about.

Lawson completed his traineeship at Curlewis Golf Club in Victoria and currently represents the Surfers Paradise GC.

Along with compatriot Nick Cullen, they were the only Aussies teeing-up in South Africa and each having secured their full 2019 European Tour card by finishing top-25 in November’s Q-School.

And for Lawson it was his fourth event of the 2018/19 wraparound European Tour new season.

Deyen recorded a career high 2nd in the Northern Territory PGA Championship and a 4th in the ISPS HANDA New Zealand Open.

In 2016, Deyen finished 5 in the TX Civil & Logistics WA PGA Championship, T5 in the Northern Territory PGA Championship and a T7 in the BMW ISPS HANDA New Zealand Open.

In his 2019 starts on the European Tour Lawson has competed in the Hong Kong Open (T50th), Australian PGA (missed cut) and the South African Open (missed cut).
