Has Zach Johnson Let Slip Either USA Ryder Cup ‘Wildcard’ Pick, A Vice-Captaincy Role Or It Is A Tease.

TPC Boston ….

Was it Zach Johnson’s honest mistake to tweet a photograph showing a small portion of a 2018 USA Ryder Cup cap in a bag of goodies he received in joining other PGA in a Net Jets corporate outing on New York’s Long Island.

The double Major winner had played in four Ryder Cup’s before being a member of a first victorious team in 2016 at Hazeltine.

There is three ways to look the image Johnson posted on Twitter.

Firstly, and more than likely, Johnson will be taking Tiger Woods place as a vice-captain.

Is Zach Johnson’s twitter photo for real or is just a tease? (Photo – Zach Johnson)

Woods is a certainly to earn one of Jim Furyk’s ‘wildcard’ picks on 4th September and if so, Johnson would seem a very logical replacement on Furyk’s backroom team.

Secondly, and in what would be an ‘out-of-the-blue choice,  Johnson could be receiving a USA Team ‘wildcard’ pick given a number of those to have missed out on automatic Versailles selection and higher-up on the selection table than Johnson have failed to perform in recent weeks.

Johnson ended the 2018 selection process a distant 20th on the points table.

The immediate three players to miss selection – Bryson DeChambeau (9th), Phil Mickelson (10th) and Woods (11th) will be picked by Furyk.

Of those ranked 12th to 19th only one, and that being Matt Kuchar at 13th, have previously contested a Ryder Cup and among those who have yet to win selection is Xander Schauffele (12th), Kevin Kisner (14), Tony Finau (15), Kyle Stanley (16), Brian Harman (17), Kevin Na (18) and Gary Woodland (19th).

It is the view of some observers, DeChambeau, Mickelson and Woods have already been advised by Furyk they will be playing inside the ropes in France.

And thirdly, the photograph Johnson posted on Twitter is a tease.
