Spieth Fast Forwards Video Of Open Final Day & Goes Straight To Birkdale’s 13th.

Open Champion Jordan Spieth revealed one of the first things he did in arriving back to his Dallas home after capturing the 146th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.

Spieth sat down to watch video highlights of his stunning three-shot video but instead of watching what unfolded over the opening 12 holes the American went straight to the bizarre events that unfolded at the par-3 13th.

The American, who was level with compatriot Matt Kuchar, sent his tee shot so far right that it landed on the official practice range and after much discusssion Spieth took an unplayable penalty on route to one of the best bogeys ever seen in recent Majors history.

Spieth brilliantly rallied from the mishap and falling one behind Kuchar to then eagle the 15th and then birdie the 16th and 17th holes to win by three shots.

“I actually watched the video the next day as I got home to Dallas and I couldn’t help but turn on the final round and especially the last day and I actually fast forwarded to my tee shot on 13, as I didn’t watch the first 12 holes,” said Spieth.

“I was like I still didn’t even know what happened on that tee and then from there, and about five minutes into looking for the ball I got pretty annoyed with it and it was a lot longer than I remember but for me it went by pretty quickly.

“That is because there was a decision here, a decision there and now I need to drop here or I need to drop there.

“But then with the TV coverage with the commercials and then they come back it seemed like we hadn’t even moved and it’s like ‘Man, that did take a really long time and that was kind of tough to watch’.

“And then watching from when I hit my shot … like I didn’t know where that shot ended-up until I watched the coverage then watching the chip shot but from there I can remember what I was actually thinking and seeing.

“Then from watching the video in from there was kind of funny as everything from the tee shot to my third shot, everything went it faster to what it seemed watching it, and then after the 13th hole everything went slower for me then what it seemed on TV.

“So for me it was this whole regrouping and remotivating and re-setting my goal, and all that kind of took place pretty quickly in real time, I guess.”
