Smelling Like Cedarwood, Nutmeg & Saffron – Darren Clarke Launches His Own Brand Of Fragrances.

Former Ryder Cup Captain and past Open Champion, Darren Clarke has never been one you would liken to ‘fresh notes of grapefruit, cedarwood and vanilla’ or ‘delicate notes of saffron and thyme blended with leather and nutmeg.

On the contrary, Clarke would seem more familiar with the delicated notes of water, barley, roast malt extract, hops, and brewer’s yeast.

However Clarke seems to have created a first in the world of men’s professional golf launchiing his own line of men’s fragrances.

Called  Darren Clarke — Day and Night – the launch of the fragrances is the newest business challenge for the 49-year old who last year open Darren Clarke’s Bar & Bistro at Hilton Head in South Carolina.

Day is described as “complex” combining woody and fresh notes of grapefruit with black pepper and incense, cedarwood and vanilla while Night displays “delicate top notes of saffron and thyme blended with leather and nutmeg, which soon give way to oud, cedarwood and musk”.

The 100ml bottles of eau de parfum, complete with handmade boxes, retail at £90 each (around €100).

Sadly, Clarke has not won a tournament anywhere in the world since capturing the 2011 Open Championship at Royal St. George’s in Kent while last year he contested 12 European Tour events missing the cut in each.

Indeed, Clarke has not made a cut in a European Tour event since sharing 30th place in the 2016 Open at Royal Troon.

But as he heads into his 28th year in the playh-for-pay ranks one thing will be certain – ‘Dazza’ will be sweetest smelling.
