Rory McIlroy’s Childhood Home Complete With Putting Green For Sale & Yours For £240,000.

The childhood home of four-time Major winning Rory McIlroy – 43 Belfast Road, Holywood – is up for sale.

There is no historical plaque affixed to the front wall of the attractive red brick building to suggest McIlroy lived there but the presence of an indoor mini driving range in the garage along with a spacious outdoor artificial turf putting green is some giveaway that a golfer once lived in this Belfast abode.

The former childhood home of Rory McIlroy is on the market.

The property is listed on the website .. www.propertynews.com .. indicating it is for sale for offers above  £239,950.

The company lists 16 selling points but wasting little time to mention in point 2 – “Former Family Home of World Class Golfer Rory McIlroy”.

“It’s a fabulous Opportunity to purchase this beautifully presented red brick semi-detached property that was the former home of world class golfer Rory McIlroy”, said agent John Minnis speaking to the Belfast Telegraph.

“This was the home he was brought-up in.  If you have seen the pictures of him chipping into a washing machine, that was in this house.

“It’s a great property in a great location no matter who it was.  It will sell.”

But what the real estate firm doesn’t mention is that the house is less than a mile from the front gates of McIlroy’s beloved Holywood Golf Club and in travelling to the course you pass Sullivan Upper School where McIlroy was a pupil..

A very homely-looking lounge room at the former childhood home of Rory McIlroy.

The garage at Rory McIlroy’s former childhood home turned into an indoor driving range- not sure if the golf bags come with the sale.

It is the second ‘McIlroy’ connection dwelling to be sold in recents years after McIlroy in 2013 sold his ‘Robinhall House’ palatial abode located in Moneyreagh to Irish property developer, Gary McCausland.

McIlroy’s Moneyreagh five-bedroom home set out on 14 acres to the south-east of Belfast boasted far more elaborate practice facilities and is believed to have been passed to McCausland for just under Stg 2m.

McIlroy then moved into a $US 9.5m luxury home, boasting six bedrooms and nine bathrooms, at Palm Beach Gardens in Florida.
