Swede Blixt & Aussie Smith Combine For One Shot Lead In New Orleans.

New Orleans, LA ….

Swede Jonas Blixt and Aussie Cameron Smith brilliantly combined to post a sizzling 1o-under par 62 and seize a one shot lead head into the weekend rounds of the Zurich Classic in New Orleans.

The duo moved to 15-under 129 for a one shot lead over the all-American duo of Patrick Reed and Patrick Cantlay while Korean K.J Choi and Charlie Wi, with Aussie caddy Tony Lindguard on the bag along with Americans Troy Merritt and Robert Streb share tied for third at 13 under.

Aussie Cameron Smith gives Swedish colleague a comforting pat on the shoulder after the duo combined to shoot a 62 and take a one shot lead at 15 under.

Smith, 23 first burst onto the world stage in finishing 4th in the 2o15 US Open and then was T25th in the PGA Championship.

But it was Blitz who was full of praise for a partner who is 1o years a senior to Smith.

“When you have a good partner like Cameron here, you can kind of rest knowing he’s going to make par or birdie and you just go for it, so it was kind of a lot easier to putt,” he said.

And Smith responded to the compliment.

“I think just having a backup, playing a little bit more aggressively, and Jonas is putting really good, chipping really good, so you always know he’s going to get up-and-down for par, so just shooting the pins, and it all came off today.

“Jonas is playing really well at the moment,” Smith said. “You know he’s going to make a birdie or par, so I’m just playing aggressive and letting it all fall into play.”

However the leaders will be wary of the two players lurking large in the rear view mirror and that is the duo of Jordan Spieth and Ryan Palmer who combined to post a second straight 66 and now just two behind the leading pair.
