Connor Syme Determined To Make It Third Time Lucky In Crail’s Famed Battle Trophy.

Top Scottish Amateur Connor Syme is determined to finally make amends and make it third time lucky in storming his way to a two-shot lead late on the opening day of the famed Battle Trophy at Crail.

Syme, 21 posted back-to-back 68s and capped his second round from the seventh hole on the Gil Hanse designed Craighead Links course going birdie, eagle and birdie.

Two years ago, the Drumoig star lead by six shots after two rounds and last year Syme went into the final day at golf’s seventh oldest club leading by one but on each occasion he came up short.

But with an Australian Amateur success now on his impressive CV Syme along with many other gleaming amateur trophies is looking to finally be handed the unique looking Battle Trophy.

Syme capped his second round near the turn of the Gil Hanse designed Craighead Links course going birdie, eagle and birdie.

Duff House Royal’s Callum Bruce, 18 was next best at six under par with a host of golfers ready to swoop at two under par.
