McDowell Soars With Bay Hill Eagle But Hybrids Letting Him Down.

aOrlando, FL …

Graeme McDowell made it five four full rounds on the occasion of his 10th Arnold Palmer Invitational appearance thank to rounds of 72 and 71 at Bay Hill.

McDowell, and playing in the group behind Rory McIlroy, brilliantly capped his round holing an 86-yard wedge shot for an eagle ‘3’ at the par five 16th that he also was playing as his seventh.

But then like his fellow Ulsterman McDowell gave both shots back with bogeys at his next two holes on route to a 71 for a one-under par tally and a then clubhouse share of 17th place.

“It was a nice eagle on 16 but then I had the ole post, what do you call it as I then threw it away with bogeys at the next two,” he said.

“But then I am struggling with my three hybrids and that is what I am going to spend the afternoon on as hit 5-wood on 17 some 235-yards and tugged it in the back left trap to make bogey.

“I then tugged my 3-wood there on 18 and also made bogey and then I three wacked the first, so I wasn’t that happy.

“The good thing is my driving is still okay but the hiccups in using my 3-wood and 5-wood is staring to question everything I am doing.

“So much so, that I think that the transition from using a 4-iron into my 3 and 5-wood is not working correctly.

“So, there is a bit of an equipment issue I need to have a look at as I am hitting my irons really, really well.”
