The Accolades Continue For Henrik Stenson – Named Swedish Male Sports Star Of 2016.

Henrik Stenson has now added the prestigious award of Male Sports Athlete of the Year to his AGW Golfer of the Year and European Tour Golfer of the Year accolades.

Stenson accepted his latest honour for his achievements in 2016 at the Swedish Sports Awards.

The 40 year old, who gets his 2017 season underway at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship on Thursday, was honoured at a ceremony in Stockholm on Monday night, picking up the top award for the second time in three years.

He also became the first male golfer to receive the Svenska Dagbladet’s – the Gold Medal for an outstanding sporting achievement – in recognition of his unforgettable Open Championship victory in July when he triumphed in a titanic battle with Phil Mickelson at Royal Troon to win his first Major Championship.

And before his European Tour award, Stenson was the overwhelming vote among the members of the Association of Golf Writers (AGW) as their Golfer of the Year.
