Happier days for Richard Green as winner of the 2010 Portugal Masters.

Happier days for Richard Green as winner of the 2010 Portugal Masters.

Just at the ‘regular’ European Tour season has ended there remains this coming week’s WGC – HSBC Champions and the three events of the Final Series to end the 2016 proper.

Though there is a two players – Scotland’s Stephen Gallacher and Australia’s Richard Green – who finished well outside the top-110 on the Race to Dubai but are inside the current top-40 on the Tour’s all-time money list, and with each having won three European Tour titles.

However if they should be overtaken in the closing four events on the 2016 European Tour International Schedule then it could be a difficult 2017 for the pair.

Gallacher, and after last week’s British Masters, is 38th on the top-40, while Green is 39th and with Fiji’s Vijay Singh holding down 40th position.

But with Euru 1,555, 851 in prize money separating Singh and 48th place, and with Alex Noren at 45th, Shane Lowry at 46th, and Joost Luiten at 48th, the make-up of the season-ending European Top-40 money winners may not include Gallahcer and/or Green.
