Spieth Singles Out Worth Of Ryder Cup Painting By ‘Mother Of Boyfriend To His Girlfriends Sister’.

Chaska, Minnesota ….

Jordan Spieth singled out the value of a painting by ‘the mother of the boyfriend to his girlfriend’s sister’ in hitting his first tee shot in the Ryder Cup two years ago as his Hazeltine inspiration.

Spieth had been asked to describe his experience in making his Ryder Cup debut in 2014 when he teamed with Patrick Reed in the third match of the opening day Fourballs at Gleneagles.

The double Major Champion said the moment was so special in his career he had a painting commissioned of that moment and with Spieth also revealing the painting to be the only piece of artwork appearing in his Dallas abode.

However as much as Spieth tried he could not remember the name of the female artist.

“I have that painting in my kitchen/living room and it’s the main piece of artwork that’s in my house, is right after I struck my first tee shot at the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles,” he said.

“It’s a beautiful painting and I don’t have anything around the house of myself up except for that, and it’s that special to me.

“It was that first day on the first tee at Gleneagles and the 18th green of the Masters in 2015, probably the two most special moments.

“Also there was the moment with my caddy in the scorer’s hut at last year’s U.S. Open.

“So those are the most — kind of the most exciting moments for me in golf, and I’ve prepared my whole life to have those kind of moments.

“We didn’t win the Ryder Cup. I didn’t make a putt to win the match there. It was just that feeling”.

That feeling included chants of USA, USA, USA echoing off the famed Scottish Highlands but also the enormous nervousness of just trying to place his golf ball on the tee.

“You hear the echos of the chants through the Scottish hill country back to the range, and you know that you’re about to walk into an away game which we don’t ever really experience,” he said.

“I remember walking out there and just a ton of people, and trying to decide — it was the 3-wood all day, but do I maybe hit driver because it’s a bigger head, you know.

“You put the tee into the ground, your hand is shaking, you’re trying to get the ball on to the tee.

“Hopefully this time, having done it before, it comes a little easier. But I hit a great shot, which was what makes me so excited about that painting was because it’s as nervous as I’ve ever been and probably the best 3- wood I’ve ever hit. I take confidence every time I see that.

“So you asked me to paint a picture of what it was like two years ago for me at Gleneagles; I asked the same thing and I try and look at it every day.”

Spieth and Reed went on to be undefeated in three matches at Gleneagles and with Spieth now ‘believing’ in USA Captain Davis Love 111s remarks that the Americans have assembled the best team in the world this week in suburban Minneapolis.

“The Captain believes we’re the best team in the world, and we believe that, as well,” said Spieth.
