Richie Ramsay May Need To Employ Chauffeur After Ace Earns Scot Luxury BMW Limo.

Scotland’s Richie Ramsay believes he may need to employ a chauffeur after winning a £130,000 luxury BMW sedan for an ace on day one of the BMW International Open near Cologne.

Ramsay pulled out a 7-iron and knowing there was a BMW V-12 M760 Li x-drive limo up-for-grabs was thinking to himself ‘Car, Car’ as his ball first cleared the water to land on the green at the par three 16th that he was playing as his seventh on the Gut Larcenhof course.

But as the ball began rolling straight towards the cup Ramsay’s two playing partners took up the chant ‘Car, Car’ and with everyone ‘high fivin’ when the ball disappeared into the cup.

Unfortunately, Ramsay’s joy in looking to jump straight behind the wheel of the car parked on the first tee was spoiled as the car was locked.

However, after posting a round of a one under par 71 Ramsay was taken back to the 16th where he climbed into the back seat, took off his golf shoes to stretch out before being formally handed the key.

“I wanted to take off my shoes as it’s beautiful inside and I didn’t want to get the car dirty,” he said.

“It’s just incredible with an ipad here in the back and being able to stretch out like this is just fantastic.

“At this rate, and given the luxury in this car, I may need to have to employ a chauffeur.  It’s just an amazing car.”

It is Ramsay’s second ace on Tour and revealing he won a year’s supply of beer for a hole-in-one during a KLM Open.

“I’ve had three holes-in-one as an amateur including one playing alongside Rory (McIlroy) out in South Africa when we were playing in the Eisenhower Trophy,” he said.

“But to win a car with so much luxury is truly amazing and it’s still sinking in.”

However, there was a tinge of embarrassment for Ramsay when asked by a BMW official what car was he driving at present.

Ramsay revealed a Mercedes and with the BMW official responding:  “Well Richie, you have won an upgrade.”

It is sixth BMW to be given away in the 27-year history of the event.

As well, is the second straight BMW sponsored event a Scot has won a gleaming new motor after Scott Jamieson won a BMW M2 coupe at the recent BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

And Jamieson seems to be benefiting from working with new coach, David Leadbetter in birding his closing two holes in a three under par 69.

“It was a good finish to my round and the key to my round was that I was pretty solid off the tee and only missed a couple of fairways,” said Jamieson.

“I’ve never done very well around this course so it’s nice to get one round back on it and hopefully I can do that for all four days.”

And Jamieson is headed to Glasgow Gailes on Tuesday looking to qualify for next month’s Open Championship.

“I played at Glasgow Gailes quite a bit and the last two years I’ve managed to come away qualifying for The Open, so hopefully that will be the scenario next Tuesday, as well,” he said.

Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin leads the field by a stroke in posting a seven under par 65.

However Masters champ, Danny Willett posted two double bogeys near the end of his round in a 74.
