Paul Dunne Ready To Take To BMW Int’ Open Overtaking Lane.

Ireland’s Paul Dunne is out to quickly jump into the over-taking lane heading to the weekend rounds of the BMW International Open in Germany.

Dunne ended a run of two missed cuts by adding 71 to his opening 69 for a four under par tally on the Gut Larcenhof course just north of Cologne.

Sweden’s Hernik Stenson posted the second best score of the day, a seven under par 65, to join Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin (68) and Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat (64) atop of the board at 11-under par.

Spain’s Sergio Garcia earned himself a million Hilton Hotel ‘frequent flyer’ points with an ace at the par three eighth hole on route to a 68 to be at five under par.

Dunne arrived in Germany having missed the cut in Sweden and Austria but after spending last week working hard on his game at home, the rookie Tour pro is assured of a eighth pay cheque in his 12 starts this season.

After dropping a shot at the first, Dunne capped his round with back-to-back birdies at two and three while he also birdied eight and 13, and with his only other bogeys at seven and 14.

“I didn’t hit it well off the tee and I also played the par fives badly as I was four under on Thursday on the par fives but only one under today,” he said.

“But then I am pleased with how I managed to hold my game together well and with two rounds to play, I haven’t shot myself in the foot.

“So considering the way I drove the ball to finish one under par is pretty good.

“Also the work I have been putting into my game is slowly paying off and I hoping it just keeps getting better, and with the key taking the good work I am doing on the range to the course proper.

“The key now heading to the final two rounds and to get off to a good third round start, and while there is a lot of birdies out there it’s not a birdie fest as you can still put yourself trouble.

“If you do get the ball in play then there is a lot of birdies to be had and that is what I am looking to do now with two rounds to play.”

In contrast, Michael Hoey’s indifferent season continued missing the cut with scores of 76 and 73.

It is the 12th occasion in 16 start this year Hoey has sat out the weekend rounds.
