Clarke Surprised With Brexit Vote But Reaffirms Europe ‘Still One Continent’ … Video.

While expressing his personal surprise at the Brexit vote for the UK to leave the EU, Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke says there will be no change in Europe’s quest to win a fourth straight Ryder Cup later this year.

“Like everybody, I think I was surprised. I thought it would be a thinnish majority for the UK to stay in the European Union. As it transpired we all know that that didn’t happen,” he said.

But with the European Tour right on top of matters in declaring also there will be no change to the European flag or qualification for the team, Clarke has also says there will be no different as his Hazeltine team will be united.

“There’s stillĀ one continent and it makes no difference to us whatsoever,” he said.

“The UK is always going to be part of the European continent. Were going there as Europe. We will still use the European flag because that is our continental flag and thats what were going to do.”
